When there is calling for raise of bets, there are several reasons, for example: In order to see more cards or to limit the loss in equity. Other reasons are to avoid a second raising by the original better or to set up a bluff now, on a later betting round. Sometimes, the player uses other strategies such as manipulating the pot odds and raising the bet smoothly to conceal the strong hand he has and get more funds in the pot in the later betting rounds. The gap concept is where the player requires a stronger hand in order to play with an opponent who has opened or raised the betting. With this tip the player tries to avoid confrontation with the strong opponent. Connected to this gap concept winning tip, is the so called ‘sandwich effect’ which requires that a player is in need of a stronger hand to stay in the pot when there are more opponent players behind him.
