Following the River and the subsequent round of betting, the players remaining form their best hand of 5 cards with their 2 own cards plus 3 cards from the community pile. If you frequently play all the way to the Showdown only to eventually lose, you have to learn to play a tighter game. What this means is that you need to develop the skills necessary to differentiate a good hand from a losing one. Basically, you have to play a lot less hands. A picky player is a clever player. If you want to win at Texas Hold'em Poker, you have to know when to Fold and when to Hold. In Poker, you don't have any influence over which cards you're dealt.
