History

The slot had three reels with ten symbols, and when three identical symbols came on the pay line, this was a jackpot. In 1915, these slot machines were replaced by wooden cabinets, and in the 1930s many other changes were introduced. The Slot machines became very popular in Las Vegas a decade later, when several of them were installed in the Flamingo Hilton Hotel to entertain the wives of high-rolling players. The electro-mechanical epoch of the slot machines started in the 1950s with the release of the Super Big Bertha machine, which had eight reels, each with twenty symbols. With this machine, the odds of hitting the jackpot were only one to twenty-five billion.
