History
Although today the most popular and widely played poker variant is Texas Holdem, for the greatest part of the 20th century and up until the 80s, the preferred game of poker was Seven-Card Stud Poker. Actually, this type of poker and its online stud poker version are still very widely played in the east coast of America and considered by many to be the purest form of the game. The game of Seven-Card Stud Poker was first mentioned in a reference book named ’The American Hoyle published in year 1864. The game was also called Stud-Horse’ and was actually invented by Ohio and Indiana cowboys. Later it flourished during the American Civil War when it was played by the armed forces and took its well-deserved place in the casino industry in the United States. Seven Card Stud Poker is a game with limited betting that appeals to many people.
