What are some strategies for getting noticed on the web?

So obviously most of us young PR students/professionals don’t want the kind of negative attention that Strumpette is receiving….. but we would like SOME attention on the web.

Many of us have blogs of our own, but we don’t exactly have the readership we would want to make it feel worthwhile to write. So how do you get some attention on the web? If blogging and knowledge of the internet as a marketing tool is something that employers are looking for in future PR pros, it is important for us to show these employers that we have these skills… or at least that we’re working on it. But how do we get noticed?

And more importantly, if we want to claim that we know how to use blogs as a PR and marketing tool in future jobs, well needless to say we really do need to know how to get attention for our clients’ sake…

So…. how exactly do you do that?

Does it have to do with keywords, or how you title your posts, trackbacking to other posts? Any input from those who are a bit more web-savvy would be appreciated!

Seeking Professional Help

A few days ago, I had the following comment posted to a discussion about work experience advice on my personal blog

“Thank you all for your comments. I am a young twenty year old working in a creative industry. I feel at times in meetings I am looked at like I do not understand what is going on or able to embrace the information. Frankly, it’s making me lose self confidence and leaving the meeting asking myself “why was i at the meeting?”. If anyone has tips for me regarding how to make people at my office view me professionally, I would appreciate it. I am close to the point of looking for a job that offers the professional appreciation I deserve.

Can the many intelligent Forward readers contribute some advice for Laura?

I think this is a difficult situation (particularly when not aware of the specifics of Laura’s work environment), but I’m sure that some of our investors could greatly assist Laura here.
